THIS IS HOW GTA4 IS BUILT. Game designers simply took random pictures of NYC, and then started making different city scenes to make the game. God I love that game!!

Amazing! How does the software know what path the camera took to then map it onto 3D space?! It appears to rotate the plotted points in sync with the video - how?!
