it's really hard from the video to tell if the pilot of the other plane had time to eject....it is really "sad" that we have these kind of accidents...but it goes with being in the "military", sadly one of the major draw-backs.

videos like that are really hard to watch when you have a loved one in the service.......

these guys were probably american, and this video was probably old because the one on top is an F4 phantom. If i was the guy's CO i would've had him courtmarshalled for killing his partner, or if the dude ejected, i would make the guy pay for the plane and the bomb. lol

The smaller fighter is an A4 skyhawk and the larger (twin tailed) fighter is an f18 hornet. The piece that came off of the hornet is the front landing gear door (look at the video slowly). Think about it, a bomb would have fallen down not floated into the other plane. This is during initial flight testing of the f18. That is why the markings on both aircraft look so unusual. These are both test pilots and are trained to deal with situations like this one.

Amazing video! It appears to me that a panel or landing gear door on the F/A-18 lets loose, sails upward, and hits the A-4, rupturing a drop tank filled with fuel.
