I think the guy was so selfish, he'd scavenge old books and cut paste pictures on the wall. He was even too cheap to buy glue. He probably has a few million stuffed in his mattress because he seemed to like paper with pictures. Maybe the next animation will tell us the old skinflint opened his matteress and found his millions turned into decayed paper from his body sweat.
