looks like it was for cherrity
Notice that the animals thrown are octupuses. It is a tradition with the Detroit Redwings.
The Motor City's proud tradition of saluting the Detroit Red Wings with slimy creatures of the deep dates back over half a century.
The first octopus landed on the ice during the Red Wings' 1952 Stanley Cup run, courtesy of brothers Pete and Jerry Cusimano, who owned a fish market.
It originally took eight games to win a championship. Eight games, eight legs, get it?
Other teams are doing the same, but this is from Portland Winter Hawks teddy bear toss game 11/24/2007. Fans was encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game, and when the home team scored its first goal they started tossing. the bears was later donated as Christmas presents to hospitals and charities. btw they blew the world record the evening when 20,372 teddybears was tossed to the ice.
did I just see a large venom?
