he can take off and put his arms out. how about take off and put your arms up? ouch! the rotor is right there. interesting but scary machine.

Sorry, it's not a helicopter, it can't hover boys! If the rotor isn't powered its just an gyro plane/bike which is not nearly as cool. :(

I agree the only place he could legally t/o and land is private to private airstrips or fields then depending on State reg's drive his tricycle to his destination. Sounds expensive and complicated. You know ATC would require Transponders and two way communication so there too he would have to be a private r/w pilot at the least. The there's performance,emergencies and liability issues. Not worth it if you can just get an R-44 with air conditioning ;)

Even if it becomes road legal he could not take off or land on a road without violating some sort of aviation or local state ordinance. As soon as he deploys the rotors he becomes a rotorcraft and is bound by FAR part 61 and 91 regulations as well as state and local ordinances regarding landing and takeoffs of aircraft At best he could take off from an FAA approved airport, private airstrip or heliport and land at same then drive from there to his ultimate destination.
