Skim boarding was very popular in the '60s. We did'nt have the fancy jumps and props. Also used large round boards w/ a beveled rim. These were called "Piper-Boards". I still have a skim board in my garage. Very popular at the ocean beach (east coast). We used them in the shallow wash of the breakers. Joe P.

i'm from Trinidad in the Caribbean and alot of my friends Skim Board. But we do it in deeper water, as if we are surfing into the water. by that i mean we surf the wave as it breaks on to the shore. but its not as easy as it looks!!

im 24 and i skim board everytime i go to the beach, it not like a hobby or anything, and its harder than it looks, trust me.

skim boarding is a sport when surfers skim over top of 2 inches of water and use mini surf boards called skimboards im a professional skim boarder i should know so listen to me i have won 28 national championships trust me on this one.

im from the best state in the us CA so let me break it down for all of you who are not east coast since im in the navy and got all over the place i know thing like wake boarding is what you do on a lake and skim boarding is what you do at the beach in sunny CA but right now im in VA which sucks major balls cause the more i go east from ca the gayer its gets no joke va is so gay with all there laws at VA beach and the girls are not even that hot its like where are the girls well not in va

yeah, this goes way, way back. Very popular in the sixties, was never any good at it, but loved it. Johnnyhacker, darlin' I think you're on the wrong site, we were on the skim boarding video?! I think you need to go to your "co",and discuss your problem.

i did this for a while and belive me this video sucks compared to wipe outs they hurt so much and this isnt even close to wake boarding

That is skim boarding. Wake boarding is behind a boat on a lake or something.

o yeah and the falls hurt bad

its called skim boarding wake boarding is when your bein towed by a boat and ridin the wake

Skimboarding is nothing like wakeboarding, i skimboard and its fun.. they are not mini surfboards !!
