To DrKnow--how does this benefit handicap people? In my experience, escalators are quite dangerous for someone using a walker or weelchair..SO what do you mean?

Only time I use escalator's is when it is the only option or, it is 100 steps plus.

I wonder what was going thruogh the mind of the designer of this? ..and through the minds of the people who built it!!

so what if there's a short escalator??

Well, I happen to be handicapped and I can't climb or navigate stairs. I really thought this was a great thing to implement for those of us who can't walk. Don' feel bad, however, when I was young, healthy and mobile, I too would have come up with the same thoughtless conclusions you all did.

The only was to tell if its "Made in the US" is if it breaksdown in a few days..but I have to admit that this is probably in the US.
