See Through Touch Screen - Watch New Videos

We do not have any specs on this new type of touch screen but you can see for yourself how it works. It is transparent but you can still see the objects on the screen.

Go to the following website for a even longer video with an explanation of how it works! http://ww.youtube.com/watch?v=7zRmffRIifE The company that makes it is IO2 Technology (http://ww.io2technology.com) from San Francisco, California in the good, ol' U.S.of A. (So the the Japanese didn't beat us to the punch on this one, but they will be the ones to make it more affordable and mass produce it!)

Heliodisplay images are not holographic although they are free-space, employing a rear projection system in which images are captured onto a nearly invisible plane of compressed air emitted upward from nozzles in the base unit. What the viewer sees is floating mid-air image or video. These projected images and video are two-dimensional but appear 3D since there is no physical depth reference.

One word H O L O G R A M. It is not a touch screen, sensors are picking up where his hand is and projecting the image corresponding to the placement of his hand. Look at the laser emitters at the base of the picture, they are projecting the light making the "3D" image. Very good effect though.
