Safe Table Saw

This video is not funny but this really is an amazing new invention. They took a tool that was dangerous and made it much more safe.

I have used this saw for several years. The cartridges are over $50 each and the blade is sometimes destroyed. But it has saved several fingers in our shop! Wet wood can set it off so there are some expensive lessons to learn. Good product with good service from the company.

BTW - If you wear gloves to avoide making electrical contact with the blade wouldn't that completely defeat the purpose?!

Hey good saw Thats not necessarily true. Go into a bank atm at night that has the electronic lock on it. When you go to leave you have to touch the push bar with you bare skin. If you touch it with metal that you're holding it wont open.

It's expensive to own and operate, but when you finally hang up your tool belt and retire, not having to explain to your grand kids where grandpas fingers went Is priceless!!

This Is a state of the art tool. I read an article about It In one of my trade mags last year. If you have about 4 grand to spend on a table saw have at It. What they don't tell you In the clip Is when the brake kicks In It destroys the blade, plus the brake assembly Is like a car airbag. It has to be replaced after each event.

Chanfan, The principle is entirely different from the operation of a GFCI receptacle.

I better hurry and buy a table saw to cut up my hot dogs for beenies and weenies before they start putting this contraption on all of them.

Gloves would not help because you are not the conductor your just conductive so any metal would trigger it with or with out gloves. It works just like a GFI receptacle, simply if there is a change in the magnetic field its going to trip.

hey pinjas, it really comes down to the electronic flow the blade has and if it disrupted or changed in any way the blade stops. so if you were cutting metal and you were touching it bare handed the blade would stop just like holding the hot dog in the video. you would need to wear a glove to protect against making electrical contact with the blade.

it has to do with some sort of electro static or conductivity your finger has it but not wood etc. you should search for the time warp with this guy and his invention he puts his finger in it on that show i was like .. ooh mmy god thats cool lol

Hah! Wow, I like it, very excellent. This can save many hands. I wonder if this holds the same logic or application with cutting materials that are electrically conductive? Perhaps you are cutting copper or aluminum. Maybe a pair of gloves would provide the isolation required.
