as far as the helmet issue, well, what if he had hit the car full on? helmet still a useless buy? I have several helmets lining my garage that are now useless, but when it counted, they "plastic" was there to cover me. i keep those helmets as a reminder to my kids that it only takes once. and with the six along my wall, that could have been a funeral visit for my family on any one of the six wrecks that retired those helmets.

for those of you that keep screaming helmet! Did you see any head injury?! Even with a helmet it would not of changed this outcome, drop one sometime and see what happens. Even if a helmet is only dropped once the "integrity" of it is no longer valid! They are not even as protective as a football helmet, they are not made the same. So if you can ruin it by dropping it on the floor what do you think happens when your running 60 and hit the ground! Like anything else it may or may not help!

malleus..finally another intelligent person that knows something about "bikes"!! yeah! I and my husband both ride and everything you said is exactly on target. Popping wheelies and trying to do stunts on public roads is totally insane! Your right no helmet is useful in a situation like this, but some leathers would of taken the roadrash, no doubt!

What an idiot! I've been riding for a while and while I've had my share of accidents at least none were such a sutpid reason. FYI a helmet would've just been a waste of money here. Now a jacket would've saved him the road rash and the pain that comes with it! Better yet he could just learn not to be a idiot when riding his bike!
