Mini Gaussian Gun - Neat Video Clips

Cool video of a mini Gaussian Gun. It is made using steel balls and magnets. It would be cool to see a full size gun like this in action.

picture this: you are walking down a dark ally when a big man steps out and blocks you. you turn to run, but oh no! he has a ball bearing gun! luckily you took a step away from him and are now out of its range. close call!

thats cool and all.. but i think them japanese guys are just trying to copy the American "railgun" which was invented 10 years ago, the "railgun" uses supermagnets to fling basically anything metal about mach 4 out of the barrel. the only difference i see is that the "railgun" uses a magnetic rail (hence the name "railgun") and the "gaussian" gun uses magnetic plates

If you made it any bigger, it would be that much heavier - I don't think the 'bullets' would fly very far! Very impressive though!
