Its her own fault for not listening, this was nothing. Age doesnt mean anything, if you can punch someone or push someone into the freeway, then yes, taser her!!

Serves her right. She cannot use her age as a law braker.

YO *** ass cop!! He knew he could just sustain her!! He is a bitch for that one!! NO man in any situation shouldnt have the right to hit a woman let alone taser a woman unless that woman is bigger than the cop (man)!

Capt. Obvious: If you think driving is not a privilege then see what happens if your caught driving under suspension and you have to take that ride to your local jail.

Lurker: Police officers must take training for Tasers and some agencies even require the officer to be tased himself. While in training they bring up the issue of pacemakers. The amount of volts from a Taser is not even close to enough to effect the heart or pacemaker.

Pinjas, police officers are responsible for the safety of the public. If police officers do not protect stupid people from putting themselves in harms way, then their highly paid attorneys will sue the police in a civil case and in most civil cases the agency opts to settle to prevent costly expenses in going to trial. Then the officer looks guilty.

Exactly Boagrius. One other thing, just because ( as she stated 20 times ) shes " 72 years old " , does not give her the right to do whatever she wants.

In California, it states several times in the driving license booklet that driving is a privilage, not a right..that's why illegals can't get a license, sure they can drive, but its unlawful. Go Lakers!!

I'm not sure about every state, but in the state I live in the officer has the choice to arrest at any sitution. You are technically under arrest when the officer pulls you over but by giving you a ticket or warning you are released until stated Court date. You do have to do what the police say because it is law! If you do not like the law then you need to move!

BS, driving is not a priviledge. This is not the USSR, the idea of driving and vehicles are not something the gov't came up with and are nice enough to let us use, if it weren't a right cars would be alotted to us with no cost what-so-ever. Driving is as dangerous as some construction jobs, you don't see them getting licenses to climb ladders. Just a way gov't makes money off of you, that's all

That county must be in shambles if the money they pay for training only leads them to taze people to get them under control. He obviously didn't take into account that she might have had a pace maker. If he did infact know of others ways, then he showed poor judgment and deserves the desk job.

1st the laws vary by state, agree w/ below comment..while I don't like the cop pushing the old lady, since HE says its was for their safety, I guess it's ok. The only other way to subdue the lady would've been by force, leaving bruses..and likely lead to a lawsuit. We should respect out elders but this lady was out of line.

She was not compliant to the officer’s orders. As a non-compliant the officer had the right to move up the scale of force. It was either the teaser or baton. He made the choice or was her. It was text book.

this old women was annoying but not dangerous. Tazer was maybe easier for him but not necessary. That's all.

oh i forgot also, when you sign a ticket, it does NOT mean that you're acceptin guilt of the citation, it is just to acknowledge that you have an appointment to see a judge at a certain date, then when you see the judge, if you feel you are innocent, then you can fight the charges.

you will take a breathalizer test. So by signing documents to get your license you enter into a contract and accept the conditions that the laws apply. Also if she was a grown man getting tazed instead of an old woman, i'm sure you'd be happy. But she broke the law and did not comply so she got what she deserved. got to be fair with everyone.

pinjas, you're WRONG, i'll agree with Kmax and Boagrius. You do have a choice it's cooperate or jail, and driving is a priviledge not a right, and also when you take your writen exam for your drivers permit, before a license, most states have a clause that says that if you are pulled over by an officer, you will agree to cooperate. example take a breathalizer test if they suspect you of DUI..

Both of you are missing the point, driving is a PRIVILEGE, not a RIGHT, and it very dangerous and needs to be regulated. She BROKE THE LAW and further exasperated the situation by being uncooperative. She probably would have just gotten a ticket and then gotten off with probation.. and ended up be tased. It was the only way the officer could get control of her and the situation.

I think we can tell already that you probably are either unemployed kmax or you have a part time job with no ambition to do anything except follow simple orders. Grow a pair.

PINJAS: Your right. You dont have to do what police tell you. Your choice is to go to jail. Its a very easy to understand choice.

What they want you to feel is that you -have- to do what they police say, you don't. They are public servants and they exist to serve the public. If a human wants to commit suicide, they are free to do so. The public servants are no longer at the will of the public, but of corporations.
