When the waves are that big, I am assuming over 50ft waves, but they need to turn into the waves or at a 45 degree angle. Not running with the waves so you rock like that.

That's not bad. Try being out in the middle of the ocean between late november and march. There is nowhere to run, you just ride it out. The biggest i've seen was "Sea-state 7" (120ft waves, 90mph winds). And i was on a boat a quarter of that size. (naval destroyer). 5 days straight of getting the shit beat out of you, and people puking everywhere.. it separates the boys from the men (glad to say i've never been seasick in all my years in the navy).
