There was a step-up transformer shown at the beginning. That could easily produce 10x the voltage which makes the pretty spark, but at 10x times less current. But still, 1/10th of 650 or so cold-cranking amps..you can still die.

This reminds me of my friend. We were fishing one day and he leaned over to touch the water. He told me the water was hot. So I leaned over and touched the water and it was freezing cold.. it was the Atlantic in spring time. So he touches the water again. The water is HOT he yells. I look back to where he was sitting and i saw the battery underwater with his feet underwater too. Everytime he touched the ocean he was grounding himself and getting shocked. I let it go on for a few more minutes and then told him.

It is NOT the number of volts that kills. You can have over 100,00 volts go through you, and you will not even be hurt, if the amps are low enough. But very low volts, with high amps will kill you, like a wall pull, which only has 120 volts.
