to anyone who thinks Dan was a joke, check out his vids. That guy was insane. I dare you to do a tenth of what he achieved in his life then maybe you could call yourself a man.

Dan Osman died after taking a swing on two week old ropes - after telling everyone he was never to do it again.. just look on youtube, or something, hes a legend for his strength and courage. Wish some of you tried to re-enact this - just so we didn't have to put up with your bollocks. yes - im taking to you 'fall out boy fan'

I know this is passed but didn't want to leave Christina's comment for last for people who might stumble upon this. I don't know if there was some vast conspiracy on behalf of Yosemite park rangers or what beefs they may or may not have had with Dan. But Dan did not die while simply "taking down some lines." Naybe that was his intended goal that day, taking them down. Maybe he had been detained wrongly and his rig had sat exposed. None of that matters in the face of one simple fact. He Jumped. A month of weather, exposure, change in the jump point.. lots of theories and studies and reports about particulars, 30 seconds of Google will find them for you. But in the end Dan evaluated the situation, the ropes, his rigging, trusted his experience, and he jumped. Something went horribly, tragically wrong and a man, who was by all accounts a genuinely nice guy, was lost from this lifetime. I hope he is tearing it up in the next one though.

Actually Dan died after being held by the Rangers in Yosemite N.P. for false charges..He died while taking down some lines Rangers were making him take down.

Yep, that's my dad! The idiot above that said he died that same day, you should probably check your facts. He didn't even die the same year that this was filmed! He was the best rock climber of his time and he is missed by many. He died doing what he loved, which is a lot more than what people could say about those people who are full of fear and terror. Thanks Dad for teaching me not to let my fears stand in the way of my dreams!

OMG!! thats sumthin i cud never even be trained 2 do! everything in me wud stop me doin sumthin lik that! That is just sumthing many people CANT do. Not sumthin they dont want 2 do, but cant!! Respect 2 him.

Yeah, I can see how exteme this guy is. Some people risk cancer/death by smoking every day, this guy, well, at least I can say he never took risks.
