I see what happened. The runner behind the guy was running home, nay stealing, and the catcher had missed the ball on the last pitch. He then threw his mask off for extra speed and accuracy when throwing. He threw the ball to second or third, got the guy out. Then the second or third baseman made a throw back to the catcher in hopes of getting the runner going to home out. Tough luck. And I suppose that there could have been a fumble in the infield, and the runner was going home, etc.
